The End of Tomatoes and Peppers

New York cooling caused a shift in the Woodside gardens.  Although lettuce, pea, and beet production increased, the chilling decimated our tomatoes, squash, corn, and beans, and led to a late blight on our potatoes.  At the current rate of cooling, many rose varieties will perish, and peppers will become extinct in New York State by 2050.

Most New Yorkers are not concerned, including those who depend on the climate for livelihood.  Alarmists, however,  spin everything into terror.

Global warming is excited science based on a few anomalies and carried to an outrageous extreme.  For over a decade they have been saying, “We now know that…” and yet the discoveries and mechanisms remain elusive.  To discover how much they really know requires a trained eye.

You do not need an extensive scientific education to see that scientists do not agree.  The problem starts with the problem itself:  how much have temperatures have climbed in 100 years?  Some say .6 degrees while others insist the globe has warmed 1.7 degrees.  Conclusion: we have no realistic idea, but climate change fanatics insist “we know for certain.”

They do not.  They still can’t decide how much sea level is rising, for instance.  Somewhere between .02 and .16 inches per year (that means 2 to 16 inches by 2200), according to many.  Others say not at all, or you can never be sure.  What you are far more likely to hear is that a rise  “of just two meters will destroy the coasts and drown many islands, forcing natives to flee their homelands.”

Of course, you can find plenty of people (rarely legitimate scientists) who will tell you that global warming is, “worse than we thought.” And it just keeps getting worse!  We thought they knew, but of course they now get paid to make it worse.

One favorite topic is glaciers.  They report that, “America’s glaciers are receding at the fastest rate in history!”  All of them… except the ones that are growing.  Overall, Arctic glaciers have been shrinking fairly rapidly since the early 1700′s.  Yes, the 1700′s, not the 1900′s, not the last 30 years.

At the same time, however, the Antarctic ice has grown by over 4% (actually closer to 5%) since 1980.  Global warming terrorists know this.  They know it extremely well, and focus on one tiny tip of melting Antarctic ice on one tiny peninsula to maintain the horror of it all.  They consider you, dear reader, to be stupid.  Stu-pid.

So here I am, eating beats and salad and a few potatoes, longing for the heat of summer, corn, and tomatoes that used to grow this time of year before global warming left us cold.

All Hail Congress as We Die!

If you look at any of the standard “global warming maps” that show fiery red for warmest areas and navy blue for coolest, you’ll notice that Michigan and New York both looked off-white for July, indicating “near normal.”

Huh? How about “the coldest July on record?”

Testing and reporting veracity are among the huge problems with global warming credibility.  Politics has become a game of “credible lying.”  Bush’s military never used torture, Clinton never had sex with that woman, Obama has no plan for a single-payer health care system, and the IPCC and NOAA have no agenda in promoting global warming.

Subject to local confirmations, the NOAA is lying.  Michigan is my home state, where my father and most of my birth family live.  New York is our present family home.  They represent two good target areas for me in terms of testing data, and the tests indicate that the reporting agencies are wrong.

For fun, I read the “revised” plan for the NOAA’s data gathering.  It might not surprise you to hear that they “bias-adjusted” satellite data (yet again; they already did this once before) to reflect the “cooling bias” over much of the Southern hemisphere.  They also used several manipulations to cool the averages for the late 19th Century, increasing the appearance of “global warming.”

If you worry about the generational terrorist rants raised over my lifetime, we already died from nuclear war, over-population, a new ice age, ozone holes, running out of oil, acid rain, river and lake pollution, red tide, sulphates, sun spots, disco, and a host of other sci fi and fantasy scenarios.

In the next generation, the world will die from irreversible global warming, so we need to end civilation as we know it.  That is the heart of the answer now being drafted and approved in Congress.  Of course, Congress gets the power.

ERROR, ERROR

Mistakes annoy me, especially when I make them.

In the last posting, I commented that the 12-month running average temperature was “.2 degrees above the 120-year average.”  That is incorrect, as an astute reader, tamino, pointed out.  (I genuinely appreciate folks who hold my accountability feet to the fire. Thank you, tamino.)

The comment should have said, “.2 degrees above the 30-year average.”  Our current year runs .3 degrees above the last 120-year average –and  just about .6 degrees warmer than in 1880.

Even if we continue at this “alarming rate,” .6 degrees per century remains manageable.  However, the world is not demonstrating that “trend.” (Global warming terrorists love nasty trends, and still want you to believe that we are looking down the throat of “4-11 degrees rise over the next 100 years.”)  We are at a high, and the globe is starting to cool.

This post started out a lot longer, but a bolt of lightning took out my computer and cable connection, so this is a rapid rewrite.

Oh, and I’m splicing in another paragraph to remind readers that 1880 was .2 degrees below “normal,” meaning that we now rest at the comfortable .4 degrees mark.  If you wonder how “normal” is established, you are not alone.

Skyrocketing Temperature

Global temperatures climbed significantly in July.  You will no doubt see the global warming terrorists jump on this one with both feet, and for good reason; the news works for them, and the average temperature rose over .4 degrees Centigrade from June!

A few things to consider while they gloat starts with the fact that June was totally normal. Representing a 0.00 degrees anomaly, June acts like a baseline for whatever follows, and a .41 degree anomaly for July looks terrible until you realize that .4 degrees is the amount of warming that occurred over the past century.  In other words, July is essentially changeless.  June was the oddity.

I mentioned a few things over the last several weeks about the July reports and the chances for a globally warm record.  For one thing, water takes longer to heat up and cool down than land.  This would suggest that the sea would have most of the excess heat now, and that is exactly what happened. Those of us in the US know that our temperatures were mostly cooler — or downright cold! — through July, but the oceans were hot.  (This might be why Seattle and some areas of the Pacific West set record highs.)

The Southern hemisphere was .61 degrees above normal, the tropics .41, and the Northern hemisphere .21 — another indication of the affects of residual heat in the oceans, since the bottom half has far more water.

Timing is everything, as they say.  This unusual month precedes a lot of possible legislation, and the terrorists will do all they can to capitalize.  Bear in mind that the last year has a running average of just .2 degrees above the 120-year average.

Going out on a limb here, let me predict that August will be close to normal again, and the remainder of the year should show renewed signs of cooling.  I continue to believe that this fall and winter will be ugly for Americans, with lots of colder than usual conditions.

In playing fair, the terrorists win July while they continue to lose for the 21st Century.  They still use the famous “hockey stick” but of course we have not seen anything resembling the horrors they forecast for us, and world temperatures continue to ignore the CO2 levels that were supposed to make the heat unbearable.

Climate Control Abyss

El nino and la nina are names given to naturally occurring warming and cooling trends in the climate. Nearly 13 of the past 19 years have been warm el nino periods.  This would indicate a warm spell.  Check.  In fact, much of that time was a strong el nino period, meaning even warmer temperatures.

The global temperature figures for July are still not out.  (Something I still don’t understand; how can it take so long to crunch numbers that are vitally important to world policy?)  Although it has been about as cold as cold gets for a July in Central NY, most credible sources anticipate a warm month in the final analysis.

Another item for comment is the global warming terrorist’s predictions that temperatures “might rise as much as four to seven degrees over the next century.”  So far, there is no period that demonstrates a rise of more than 1.4 degrees, whether you start with an actual century ago (.4 degrees) or since one of the colder periods (like the late sixties) with a 40 year rise equaling 1.2 degrees per century.

In spite of this, we can say that the trend for this millennium indicates a drop in temperature of 1.2 degrees per century.  This calculation, using all the data from January 2001 to present, uses the exact formula that GISS uses.

If that seems like too short a period to consider, remember that the terrorists are working with only 120 years — at most — themselves.  In climatic terms, 120 years is little more than weather changes.  Global climate periods are measured in four to six hundred year groups.

The International Energy Commission (IEC) calculates the cost of halving the current CO2 emissions at $45 trillion.  That is, $45 trillion more than the cost of current energy production.  Is it worth it?

Giving enormous leeway to the terrorists and their alarmist forecasts, assume that the global temperature rises twice the greatest observed possibility, or 2.8 degrees over the next century.  What will happen?

Sea levels will rise about seven inches, crops will grow better, manufacturing can continue unabated, and power will flow into impoverished nations and areas of the world.  These changes will reduce the death rate from diseases and myriad energy and economic-related problems, and starvation can be calculated to diminish significantly.

More importantly, during that 100 years we will have to work on new energy and production methods anyway, because (remember?) the same global warming terrorist crowd has been screaming for decades that we are running out of fossil fuels.

If we address it immediately (as with the current Cap and Trade legislation) and pretend we have no choice, we will have to find $45 trillion dollars and send not only the economy but the world’s health and food supplies into a dizzy spiral — straight to an abyss of epic proportion.

Man is Guilty, but…

To understand anthropogenic global warming, only two things are necessary: one, how this “evil” of CO2 operates, and how much of this “evil” man dumps into the atmosphere.

“Greenhouse gases” prevent some of the heat from escaping earth’s atmosphere, just like a plate of glass (sort of) on a terrarium.  They reflect (re-radiate) heat back at earth.  What global warming terrorists fail to mention is that these radiant molecules make up just about 2% of the total atmosphere.  CO2 makes up 3.6% of that 2%.

Man contributes 3.4% of the total CO2 that is 3.6% of the 2% of the atmosphere that reflects some of the heat back at the earth.

If you are very fast with math, you already figured out that man is responsible for “CO2 dumping” that amounts to 0.0000245% of the atmosphere.  (I needed a calculator.)

Even though man is terribly guilty he is still incredibly insigificant.

If you firmly believe in man-made global warming you will not be disturbed by truth.  The greater problem is that it comes quite naturally to all of us that somebody is guilty, and that must be somebody else.  The truth is, you are guilty.  You do not make the earth hot, but you do have a share of the responsibility for problems in the world.

Stop worrying about “global warming” and get right with God.  It’s your only hope no matter how you die.

A Scarier Place

The recent polls on health care find that older folks dislike the idea of government meddling in doctor visits.  The young are more likely to approve.  This is interesting and revealing — interesting because those of us who lived longer in America still remember, while the young tend to assume the US always had its current problems; and revealing because it shows that young people get their views from schools and peers, not home.

The wisdom of Jesus revealed that, “a prophet is not without honor except in his own country.”  The same can be said of his own home.  Children learn to disbelieve because, “mom and dad are just people with opinions, but my teachers provide fair and balanced education.”

Older folks tend to understand things with different eyes.  Kids think they can change the world.  Of course, some of them will.  Older folks tend to understand that nothing improves by a crisis committee or by blithely turning away from history, stability, and culture to chase a new brass ring.  We know that almost anything that removes options is only good for a scant few.  We tend to recognize that “radical fixes” almost invariably turn out as bad or worse than the problem.  We know that history is full of stupidity that seemed clever at one time.  We appreciate patience and “a better understanding” before we barge in.  Kids want it all now.

The latest CNN poll had one question posed this way:

“Recognizing that difficult health care decisions sometimes have to be made, would you rather have those decisions made by government or by an insurance company?“  The result was 40% to 40%, and the remaining 20% were listed as “no opinion/ undecided.”  The problem is, those are not the only options.  I would like to have my doctor, wife, children, pastor, perhaps a second or third medical opinion, and certain friends help to make those difficult decisions.

A lot of kids might not even consider that option.  Wording and lack of understanding change the debate.  It makes the world a scarier place.  A lot scarier.

Global Climate Crisis Creation

How do the Global Terrorists come up with this stuff? And why do people look and listen? Let me show you something…

The graphs to the left are all based on identical “data.” (Made up, but resembling global temperatures recorded in the past 30 years, depending on which “reliable source” you obtain the data from.)

You probably recognize the scarey spike at the upper left, indicating the end of the world in a decade or two if we fail to enact Cap and Tax.  This is the infamous “hockey stick,” showing how mankind has completely destroyed our climate.  The same data can be averaged over the previous year and following year to produce the graph at upper right.

Sometimes the global terrorists try to indicate a “long-term trend” and actually use a fair set of statistical averaging to produce something like the lower left, but “trends” don’t occur in any meaningful way in nature.

Finally, if you average the data you will see that the last two entries are “below average” for the points indicated in the data.  This, too, is nearly meaningless when discussing a subject like climate and using data from 30 years.  It becomes even more meaningless if you consider the data itself.

Depending on your source, June of this year was “the 5th warmest in recorded history” or the “fifteenth coolest.”  (NOAA vs NASA)  Both agencies “adjust” their information, and both use only ground level information.  (The troposphere and lower stratosphere both show cooler than normal temperatures for the last several years.)

The “trend” has ended, but you can bet money they will change the crisis now.  Get ready to hear about the redefined Global Climate Crisis when you freeze your way through the coming winter.

Why are You Being Lied To?

The UN is not a scientific agency. Al Gore is not a climate scientist, and neither are the majority of the authors responsible for the IPCC reports from the UN. They are politicians. Many of the “contributing scientists” have asked (unsuccessfully) to have their names removed. Only one successfully sued (at great personal expense) to have his name withdrawn. We are in times when lies become credible through repetition. Ask yourself these questions:

Why is the antarctic ice growing, and why is the terrorist community not talking about it?

Why has it been so cold around the globe for nearly three years (ice and snow in Saudi Arabia, Bolivia, unseasonable cold across the US and Western Europe, etc.) if we are in a period of “global warming”?

If CO2 causes global warming, why has CO2 always increased after warming in the past?

Why is the upper atmosphere not warming?

Why is there “global warming” on Mars (and Jupiter’s moon, Titan) exactly like here on Earth — and during the same time period?

Why did the vast majority of global warming take place from 1900 – 1940 when CO2 was low, and rise less for the following 60 years when CO2 increased? And why has it stopped increasing now when CO2 is at an all-time high for the amazingly short 120 year knowledge-base of accurate climate?

Why was it so warm 1,000 years ago? Did Vikings secretly drive Subarus on Greenland?

Why did we have the “Little Ice Age” 400 years ago?

Where was the “debate” that supposedly “ended”?

Why are US climatologists “not convinced” that there is any evidence of anthropogenic warming… or even any evidence of long-term climate change?

Why have the glaciers been receding since the last ice age, millennia ago, without attention until 1996?

Global warming seems confined to the arctic now, and evidence mounts that Earth is cooling. Why is that evidence hidden, suppressed, or ignored, and why are global warming terrorists (who accept large sums to keep it high) now forced to “adjust” temperatures and report “anomalies” when that is not how the historical data came to them?
